What does everyone think of the POSTMORMON.ORG bulletin board that is currently in Provo, Utah?

I think it's a pity how mormons are so afraid of losing their members that they have to shut down first amendment rights.

Btw, that website is really good. You should check it out if you haven't.

I haven't seen it!

Edit: It affects the price of tea in China how? Sorry, but I just don't care what people do unless it is illegal. As long as they don't go into details.

I haven't seen it yet. I'll look for it next time I'm in Provo.

It sounds like something we'll all hear about next GC in October. I would give it 3 or 4 weeks before the thing comes down.

It's sad, but the LDS Church does indeed play a BIG part in local politics and ordinances in Happy Valley, just as we saw in Rexburg, ID when they had the POSTMORMON.ORG bulletin board taken down last week.

I think part of the fruit of salvation is a love of truth. Sometimes you need to let the chips fall where they may.

however... it looks like they do not offer an alternative to Mormanism... excepting being un-Mormon if one so chooses

I think a saving faith in the real Jesus is the best alternative to Mormonism, not becoming an un-Mormon

For one it shows that there is opposition in all things. For two, it's like those of that organization are hurting real bad, so they come up with an organization to talk about it. Being Mormon, it's nothing but another dagger trying to be flown at us, but that won't ever hit. Stuff like that only affirms our testimony that what we believe is true, because if it wasn't, we wouldn't be so antagonized. I'm not saying other faiths are not, or that they don't receive it to the severity that we do, I'm just saying, for a young Church, to prosper as fast as it has, is pretty phenomenal and that there are going to be "nay-sayers" as long as we continue to grow because our religion doesn't preach what main stream Christianity preaches. "Whats right is not always popular, whats popular is not always right"

It's sad that there have been a few that have lost their way, but those who actually do and try to practice what this religion preaches, we will/would never fall away because of the testimony which is born to us by the Holy Ghost, the only true way to know if something is true or not.

I love how those who have left the Church, left because their own philosophies didn't meet up with the church they belonged to. It's not about what we think, its about what God wants and its about HIS teachings, no one else's. Morgasm has no idea what she is talking about.

By the way, Morgasm, we're not afraid of losing them, we're sad for them, because they left something that would only bring them closer to the Savior.

Its so nice we can express ourselves freely here !

The link shows a newspaper article but it's too small to read. I tried saving it and then zooming in, but it's too fuzzy then. What's it about? Is Post-mormon a different way of saying ex-mormon?

I've never seen it in all my travels across Happy Valley.

I think ... I believe that everyone has a right to worship to the dictates of their conscience, how, where, or what they will. If that means that they are Catholic, Wiccan, Buddhist, Jehovah's Witness, et cetera, Post-Mormon or even Anti-Mormon, then that is their choice and I cannot object. Everyone needs to believe in something. And I think it is wonderful that these people have found others in whom they can find similarity of conviction.

My only desire is that they allow me the same privilege and God-given right, and that though our consciences may not agree, that we are capable of being tolerant and open-minded with each other.

I also desire that any investigator will be *first* directed to those who dedicatedly practice their religion rather than to those who may have left or never belonged. I do not *initially* look to ex- or non-members of any religion to discover what a particular religion practices or believes, so I hope others will do the same. Not that I ignore ex- or non-member opinions, but that I think they should be taken in stride and in order, from inside to outside. Then you will better understand every side to the "rubrics cube" of each philosophy/religion -- and that is what I meant when I first wrote this response. I think this is the wisest and most open-minded approach to any philosophy/religion, as opinion and understanding always varies from inside to outside.
